Wörterbuch der Weltsprache[redakön]

Glidis, o Hans-Friedrich!

Just a little explanation. Regarding the section "Wörterbuch der Weltsprache" (or WW= in the template) in pages, this should include the original definition in de Jong's dictionary. It may contain obsolete words and spellings but it's supposed to be that way. A Volapük definition can be provided in template parameter "plän1=" (and plän2= etc., if more are needed). The (modern, custom) German translation should come under "Tradutods" section, not WW (which is reserved for the original WW definition).

Question[redakön]

Glidis, o Hans-Friedrich!

Sorry, I don't speak Volapük (or any conlang for that matter). Can you speak/read English?

I had a question: why do you want möv to be deleted? Is it because the correct spelling is mev? Some websites I found listed it as "möv" = "seagull".

I'll delete it when you give me a specific reason for deletion.

Thank you, PiRSquared17 (talk) 03:46, 2012 dekul 23id (UTC)[reply]

Glidis, o PiRSquared17!
A mistake has been introduced into Volapük (possibly first in Ralph Midgley's Volapük-English English-Volapük dictionary), by confusing two similar words, namely "möv" (shunting, switching) and "mev" (gull, seagull). This mistake has also entered various online dictionaries. Cf. mev-li? <http://groups.yahoo.com/group/volapuk/message/1350> Ralph Midgley wrote: Gidetol! Vöd „möv” binon pöl. Glidis, o PiRSquared17!
The page referred to above does not have to be deleted after all. It just needed to be corrected. I corrected it. Both möv "shunting, switching (railroading)" and mev "gull, seagull" exist as words in Volapük, they were just confused with each other. Sorry, my mistake.
